This contract is for tree protector removal and refurbishment, manual brushing and deer repellant application (backpack spraying).
The total area requiring manual brushing ONLY treatment is an estimated 17.4 ha (2 blocks only), including a block accessed by helicopter at White Beach (Eve River/Call Inlet) area. See
Schedule B for details of specific work units. Block treatment maps and project overview maps are included with this tender. All Brushing work is to be conducted between June 1, 2026 and
September 15, 2026. This may involve overlap with times of elevated fire danger. Locations for Application of Deer Repellant are to be determined. The contractor must supply spray equipment,
but BCTS will supply product to be used. All tree protectors that are removed from treatment units (17 Blocks with a total of 26,886 cones) will be refurbished as described in Appendix 2 –
Tree Protector Packing Storage Instructions. This refurbishment is included in your treatment area bid price. All refurbishment supplies will be provided by BCTS. Cones are to be refurbished
with new zap straps and bundled as per Schedule C. Cones are to be refurbished as per Appendix 2, and palletized at the Campbell River District Office compound. Supplies are provided by
BCTS.
A field review of all blocks is highly recommended, but to aid bidders in the tendering process, there are aerial photos of the one brushing block BC3S1 (remote access located at Whitebeach)
available for viewing in Appendix 3 – Block Photos. Please note – the majority of small, individual treatment areas are not identified on block maps, rather the entire block is shown as
“treatment area” due to the scattered nature of tree protectors located throughout the block. All treatment units (blocks), should be field viewed and verified by potential bidders prior to
bidding to ensure bidders are aware of the potential workload for all treatment units.
