Power Systems Work ALTERNATIVE ‘A’ (BASE BID)
Removal of existing power distribution equipment (Main Distribution Panel (MDP) and breakers, branch circuit panelboards and breakers), and replacement with new
-Removal of existing Motor Control Centre (MCC #1) and starters, and replacement with new.
-Disconnection and reconnection of all existing loads; allowing for temporary power connections as required to keep the facility operational (Refer to Cash Allowances for details)
-Updating of all panel schedules; applying new labels and lamicoids to the new equipment
-Painting/Patching/Repairing any surfaces affected by this replacement work
-Completing an arc flash/coordination study and applying appropriate labelling
o Investigation of existing MDP to branch panel feeders, Phasing/Temp. Power
o Painting/Patching/Repairing any surfaces affected by this replacement work, completing an arc flash/coordination study and applying appropriate labelling and Asbestos/Abatement work
ALTERNATIVE ‘B’ (BASE BID + FEEDERS):
All scope of work within Alternative ‘A”, AND Power (additional scope) The supply/installation of new feeders (conduit AND wiring) between the existing Main Distribution Panel (MDP) and
various downstream branch circuit panelboards.
-This Alternative ‘B’ price shall include the costs of routing new conduit, including any/all patch and repair work required to achieve new routing and restore Architectural finishes
affected by this Work.
o Scope includes detailed photo documentation and as-built mark-ups by the Contractor indicating new conduit routing, for the Owner’s/Operator’s record purposes and for capturing into an
accurate set of finalized Record Drawings.
ALTERNATIVE ‘C’ (BASE BID but includes mechanical panel + breakers instead of new MCC): All scope of work within Alternative ‘A”, AND Power (revised scope)
-Credit back for new/replacement Motor Control Centre. - Cost of removal of existing Motor Control Centre (MCC #1) and starters, and replacement with new Mechanical branch panel board complete
with all new breakers and any/all loose starters required (refer to drawings for details), as well as any/all materials and equipment required to reconnect to existing Mechanical loads.
ALTERNATIVE "D" (SAME AS ‘C’ + FEEDERS): All scope of work within Alternative ‘C’, AND… Power (additional scope)
-The supply/installation of new feeders (conduit AND wiring) between the existing Main Distribution Panel (MDP) and various downstream branch circuit panelboards. This Alternative ‘D’ price
shall include the costs of routing new conduit, including any/all patch and repair work required to achieve new routing and restore Architectural finishes affected by this Work.
Bids shall be on a stipulated price basis for each of four alternatives. The Bid Form requires alternative prices in the form of a separate total stipulated price for each alternative. Scope
includes detailed photo documentation and as-built mark-ups by the Contractor indicating new conduit routing, for the Owner’s/Operator’s record purposes and for capturing into an accurate
set of finalized Record Drawings. The Work of the Contract will be based on the alternative selected by the Province at the time of contract award. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility
to present a phasing plan for the proposed work that minimizes the impact to the occupants of the building; the Province reserves the right to accept the proposed plan or require it to be
adjusted at no additional cost.
