Forest Estate Modelling work using Patchworks is needed to estimate sustainable harvest rates in specified parts of Timber Supply Areas of interest and to develop spatial outputs for
operational tactical plans. Patchworks is the preferred application for spatially explicit forest modelling and will provide necessary outputs to support decision-making for policy and planning
changes across the Strait of Georgia (TSG) Business Area. This work will support BCTS with Forest Landscape Planning (FLPs) and Integrated Resource Management Plans (IRMPs) in collaboration
with First Nations in whose traditional territories BCTS operates.
The contract requires professional and technical staff who are proficient with the Patchworks forest modelling application and GIS analysis. Analysis and modelling work will include data
compilation and quality assurance, land base classification (gross land base netdowns to produce the Timber Harvesting Land Base), growth and yield development, Patchworks model set up and
outputs, analysis reporting, maps and visualizations, and information and digital submissions. The services will be consistent with the “Standards and Guidance for the Design and Use of
Forest Landscape Models to Support Forest Landscape Planning” (FLM Standards).
Projects will be completed concurrently as per the agreed upon work progress plan and schedules. Interim checkpoints and milestones will be confirmed and approved during the contract prework
meeting.
