The Town of Bridgewater (Town) is seeking proposals from a qualified, multi-disciplinary team for the design, supply and install of an inclusive playground, splashpad, and central pavilion at the Glen Allan Drive destination park (Generations Active Park (GAP)) located at 543 Glen Allan Drive in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. This project will be in adjacent to the previously established South Shore Vet Dog Park. This project aims to create a welcoming, safe, and engaging play space that meets the needs of all ages and abilities. This project is part of our broader commitment to accessibility, equity, and community development, ensuring all children and families, regardless of ability, can enjoy outdoor recreation in an inclusive environment. The overall mandate is to design a fully inclusive recreational area that promotes social interaction, imaginative play, physical activity, and community gathering. Design will commence in Winter 2026 with construction started Spring 2026. The successful proponent will be responsible for the complete design of all components, including play structures, water features, shelter structures and main pavilion structure, as well as supporting elements such as pathways, surfacing, lighting, servicing, and parking. The design must prioritize accessibility, safety, and long-term sustainability, and align with all relevant standards, regulations and codes, including the new Built Environment Accessibility Standard – Government of Nova Scotia, Canada which will begin to be enforced in April 2026. The successful proponent will also be responsible for overseeing the construction and supervision of the design implementation, as well as providing a project timeline and Class ‘A’ capital cost estimate.
