• The purpose of the Request for Information (RFI) is to gather information about private market interest and key requirements for the development of a theme park in Ontario’s Niagara Region. Niagara Region is home to Niagara Falls, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, making tourism an integral part of the Region’s economy. Niagara Region attracts more than 13 million tourists each year, resulting in a $3 billion tourism industry but there’s untapped opportunities for growth. To unlock its potential, the Government of Ontario, is implementing a comprehensive plan to support the economic potential of the region as a major tourism driver by bringing new attractions and accommodations. The Ministry has identified an opportunity to expand the local tourism ecosystem through the development of a major attraction, such as a theme park. Theme parks offer significant potential to increase year-round visitation, attract international tourists, and stimulate private sector investment. Feedback through this RFI will help the Government of Ontario understand industry challenges and operational requirements for a potential theme park in the Niagara Region.
