The objective of this contract is to construct 0.9km’s of new Forest Service Road based on a Geometric Road Design and field control measures. The road construction involves all phases of
road construction including timber cut and removal, end haul, drill and blast rock, placed rock fills and surfacing.
All NEW CONSTRUCT road sections must be constructed in accordance with Appendix II Road Design & Specs and Appendix III Culvert & Deact Specs. Changes to excavation and quantities will
be facilitated through survey, when/where excavated material types do not match the design.
There is significant drill and blast rock on this job. It is strongly recommended that prospective bidders carefully review insurance requirements as set out in Schedule
B.
Supply, delivery and installation of all culverts are the responsibility of the contractor.
The project is located approximately 10km’s west of Kaslo BC.
Timing and Scheduling Restrictions
Due to Migratory Bird regulation constraints for rank 4 and 5 polygons within nesting zone A2, the Right of Way Falling phase MUST be
performed OUTSIDE of the May 15 – July 20 restriction period UNLESS a walk through is completed by a BCTS employee during the restricted
time frame and determines that active nests are not present within the right of way. If a nest is found, Right of Way Falling will cease and construction on this section cannot proceed.
