The AGCO is a provincial Crown agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, cannabis, gaming (land-based and online) and
horse racing sectors in Ontario. More information can be found at https://www.agco.ca/about-us as well as in other pages in the “About the AGCO” menu.
The AGCO is engaged in enhancing its Joint Health and Safety program and training employees to recognize, mitigate and respond to hazards.
Establishing a robust Working Alone program within the AGCO, will provide the diligence and ability to respond to potential or actual incidents and injuries to employees. In addition, a Working
Alone program will provide management with a tool to oversee employees’ safety while working alone and/or remotely.
In 2020 and 2021, Regulatory Compliance Branch (RCB), in collaboration with Human Resources and IT, completed research and testing for better coverage in remote area. Since 2021, staff have
used a GPS solution with:
- Real time location awareness;
- 24/7 live monitoring for and escalation of emergency alerts (police/EMS);
- two-way voice capabilities.
Additional options have been considered, including:
- Mobile app with text-to-satellite capabilities;
- Similar satellite GPS tracking technology;
- Internal/OPS monitoring.
