Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is a 25-bed facility offering a full-range of services including diagnostics, ultrasound, CT scan, surgery, emergency, day care, acute care, and extended care.

The Prince Rupert Regional Hospital (PRR) was originally constructed in 1971 and had the CT scan room extension added in 2001, followed by renovations in 2014, which included the replacement of the CT scanner. The current CT scanner has been experiencing frequent software malfunctions, resulting in delays to urgent diagnostic procedures. Therefore, a replacement is necessary.

Additionally, the existing CT room is outdated and might not be directly compatible with the technical requirements of the new equipment, which is expected to generate more heat and consume more power.
