The project is located at Dunrovin Park Lodge, a long-term care home located in Quesnel, BC. The facility provides 117 beds for residents. It comprises north, south, centre, east and west
wings, which serve resident needs. Additions and renovations have been made to the centre, south and east wings in 2007. Kindly refer to Appendix A for the facility layout.
The existing nurse call system is a Tyco Simplex Grinnell brand, model easy care, originally installed circa 2015. It has experienced multiple issues and undergone several repairs over the
years. The current nurse call system has reached end-of-life, and parts are now obsolete.
Northern Health Authority (NHA) needs to replace the existing nurse call system with one that meets both facility requirements and NH standards. The consultant is expected to provide a
replacement design that is compatible with the existing site conditions, including architectural and electrical layouts. Identifying existing locations and determining the required number of
head ends, nurse call devices, and marquee displays throughout the facility are part of the services.
While NH does not mandate a specific nurse call system brand, the design should focus on performance requirements, which will allow for the most competitive pricing when it comes time to tender
the supply and installation work. The design must address potential system downtime during construction, identify any existing functional nurse call devices that can be reused in the new
system, and outline any new requirements in the facility.
The nurse call system replacement will include replacing head ends, telephony SIP server, nurse consoles, dome lights, staff stations, single audio patient stations with call cords, dual button
stations with clear stations, marquee displays and Vocera communication system. Vocera and Engage replacement will be entirely completed by IMIT team of NH. Staff workflow and impact to
residents during construction is a concern, and should be considered in design/phasing. Clinical areas will be disrupted during the construction.
