Description

The York air cooled chiller is at the end of its service life (installed in 2000). The rooftop unit is 30 tons, and is manufactured for R22 but has been recently replaced with RS-44. The chiller provides chilled water to the basement"s 4-pipe fan coils via glycol chilled water loop. The existing system has free cooling capabilities in the form of a fluid cooler. The recommended system must maintain free cooling capabilities. Consultant is to investigate existing conditions and provide recommendations on replacement including any associated parts/controls.
Consultant shall:
1. Calculate and evaluate the cooling load .
2.Replace Chiller with an adequately sized unit, tying into existing DDC system (Alerton compass two system). Consultant to evaluate existing structural conditions and requirements for new unit.
3.Evaluate all associated components/systems including but not limiting to pumps, fan coil units, piping, fluid cooler, controls, sequence of operations, etc.; complete LCCA as per section 9; and provide recommendations.
4. Consultant shall update the HVAC and Halocarbon SOPs, and update the single line diagrams.
5. Based on the consultants proposed design methodology, if the project will require some moderate modifications to the power distribution system (examples: new power panels, new distribution boards), then the project shall include for a partial update to the short circuit analysis, evaluation of protection devices, coordination of protection devices and arc flash study in accordance with CSA Z462-18 and other codes and standards applicable. Provide arc flash labeling for new equipment, provide recommended protection settings, and include checking and updating single-line diagrams of electrical distribution (soft copy and onsite hard copies). Reference relevant sections of the BGIS SOW for the requirements of the coordination, short circuit and arc flash study and single line electrical drawing updates. Note that this facility has an existing power system study from March 2024 that will be provided to the awarded consultant.

All work shall be in accordance with NBC , ASHRAE stds,MD15000, legionella MB15161, FHR 2022 & applicable codes and standards.
