Description

Fraser Health is seeking experienced and qualified proponents to provide youth peer support program and related services to youth who have mental health and substance use needs with support to learn new skills and connect with community resources.

The program will utilize trained peer support workers who have experienced mental health and substance use challenges themselves and are therefore in a unique position to offer support to others. Peer support is recognized as a necessary component of a full spectrum of mental health and Substance Use services.

The youth peer support contract aims to enhance personal support and improve system access and navigation for young people accessing Mental Health and Substance Use services (MHSU) in the Fraser Health region, including but not limited to Child, Youth and Young Adult MHSU (CYYA) and related services; for a health authority or a health region (or a public-sector entity) in Canada, and/or in the province of British Columbia, preferably, or in North America.

Objectives of the RFP
The successful proponent(s) will provide the services to achieve the following outcomes:

for Clients

• Increased personal resourcefulness, self-belief, hope and self-determination.
• Improved mental health and substance use system access and navigation.
• Increased social support opportunities to re-establish, develop, or maintain skills in personal life activities, leisure activities, and/or pursue educational or employment opportunities.
• Engagement in wellness activities/training.
• for Youth Peer Support Workers
• Peer support workers will receive supervision and oversight.
• Peer support workers will have opportunities to develop and/or improve work skills.
• for Youth Peer Support Service
• Increased supports available within CYYA services.
• Increased consumer participation leading to improved community services through communication of a consumer perspective.
• Greater awareness of the capabilities of people with mental health and substance use needs developed through working alongside consumers.
• Increase awareness and education related to harmful substance use for youth and families.
• Virtual Information Meeting: Fraser Health recommends that Proponents attend an information meeting scheduled (online) for Friday June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Pacific Time.
