Description

Kneehill County and its neighbouring municipalities offer a variety of parks, recreation facilities, campgrounds, and community spaces that serve as important gathering places for residents. Local community groups and agricultural societies play a vital role in managing and operating these recreational areas through various ownership and operational models. However, changes in population, community interests, and rural recreational trends, along with aging infrastructure, necessitate a strategic assessment.

The Kneehill County Regional Parks & Recreation Needs Assessment is a community-centred initiative aimed at evaluating the availability, accessibility, and future needs of parks and recreation facilities across the region. This project will focus on enhancing local recreation for residents, strengthening community engagement, and fostering rural and agricultural heritage while acknowledging the impacts and opportunities of seasonal visitors on recreation spaces.
