he Town of Banff (“The Town”) is seeking a qualified engineering consulting firm to provide professional services in the field of transportation and municipal engineering. The successful
firm will develop designs for a project to construct a bike lane facility on Compound Road, Banff, Alberta. *** Introduction*** Situated within the breathtaking landscapes of the UNESCO World
Heritage Canadian Mountain Parks, this project aims to enhance safe cycling infrastructure and promote alternative transportation options for residents commuting between the main townsite and
the industrial area. The Town of Banff is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced design teams to develop a bike lane facility along Compound Road, linking Banff Ave to Hawk Ave. One
of the four priorities for the Town of Banff in its current strategic plan is improving sustainable transportation. The town looks to develop new and enhanced active mode infrastructure
wherever feasible. The successful design will integrate seamlessly with the existing roadways adhering to the highest standards of safety, accessibility, and environmental stewardship, while
minimizing capital expenditure by making use of and avoiding costly modifications to existing infrastructure. The location of the proposed bike lane is outside of the Municipal Town boundary,
as such ultimately the designs will be reviewed and accepted by Parks Canada as well as the Town of Banff.
The Town anticipates that the design services will ultimately include, but may not be limited to the following • Field inspection of the proposed location – a topographical survey has not
yet been completed. • Assess alternative route options • Develop designs for a bike lane facility on compound road • Develop traffic safety assessments and use the results of the
assessment to develop intersection improvement designs for each end of the bike lane and at the CPKC rail crossing • Project management of the engineering team
