Description

The Board of Education of School District No.35 (Langley) (“SD35” or “District”) wishes to retain the services of a volumetric Modular/Prefabricator contractor firm to work with the School District and its Design Team for two-story eight (8) classroom addition to Nicomekl Elementary School, located at 20050 53rd Ave., Langley.

1.1 Rationale
Nicomekl Elementary is an inner city, K-5, school that is over capacity and is in a redeveloped and growing community. The school is in the City of Langley which neighbors Surrey to the west; Willoughby Community in Langley Township to the north; and the developing community of Brookswood/Fernridge to the south and eastward. The existing school is a single-story concrete block and wood frame elementary located on an 8-acre site. The school was constructed in 1974, with additions in 1975 and 2001. The site also supports Daycare and Kindergarten. The functional capacity is 309 with the projected enrolment to hit 505 by 2026. The district is therefore asking for an Architect to serve as the prime consultant in designing and coordinating of an 8 classroom (200 seat) addition to increase the functional capacity to 509.
