Description

Scope of Work/Overview: An accessibility Audit was carried out by Schoeler and Heaton Architects in November 2019 (GOC1831285) based on CAN/CSA-B651-18. The audit provides detailed evaluation of elements of the building, deficiencies and finally, provides recommendations to achieve compliance with CAN/CSA-B651-18. Several elements of the building need to be revised to achieve compliancy, such as the route of travel in parking lot, exterior ramp and stairs, entrance, elevators (visible and audible signals), interior stairs and ramps, accessible route / interior doors, washrooms (grab bars, lavatories, actuators, accessories), stairwells (handrails, detectable warning surfaces) and kitchenette (counter space, door width) and interior signage and visual alarms. The project will include a thorough review of the recommendations from the audit according to the latest accessibility standard (CSA B651) and identify any discrepancies with the report and onsite conditions. Consultant shall provide a scope of work for upgrades in compliance with the most current legislation or standard for implementation. This building is a Classified Federal Heritage Building. Protection of the buildings heritage character is identified in the Treasury Board Policy on the Management of Real Property. Any proposed interventions should follow an approach of minimal intervention and should take into account the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places (2010). Drawings and specifications for proposed interventions in Blocks A and B will be submitted to the FHBRO for review.
Consultant is responsible to prepare the submission for FHBRO.

Attendees will meet the BGIS representative at the La Salle Academy, 373 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON. Bring valid ID and PPE.
Proponents are advised that there will be an Mandatory site visit to be held on the date specified within the item 2.6.15. of the ITT Document.. A maximum of one representative of each Proponent, or its authorized representative, are permitted to attend the Mandatory site visit.

All individuals attending the site visit must bring their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety shoes/boots, hard hats, safety glasses. Individuals without the appropriate PPE will not be permitted to access the site.

Bidders are only required to attend one site visit (if the project has a mandatory site visit) to be eligible to bid.
