Description

The District of Tofino is requesting for a proposal for the acquisition of a Power Marine Vessel between 5.5 - 6.0 meters (18 - 20ft) in length with a shallow draft that can accommodate navigating through the various intertidal narrow passages around the Tofino inlet and in Duffin Passage. The vessel must be compliant to commercial registration with all Transport Canada Safety, Navigation and Fire requirements installed and able to accommodate 6-8 persons plus motor, equipment, and fuel. The primary use of the vessel is transportation of tools, light equipment, material such as 6 meter (20ft) lengths of PVC or HDPE piping and personnel to and from Meare’s Island to perform infrastructure maintenance and respond to emergency events. The District of Tofino has a maximum upset budget of $150,000.00 to invest in this new asset. The RFP weighting is not solely on price but includes quality of the submission, further detailed below. The vessel must be able to easily land on remote isolated beaches and accommodate crew, material and equipment embarkment. The expected hull and/or motor speeds must be a minimum of 15 knots. Adequately sized outboard motors (primary motor + redundant kicker motor) and trailer with winch that can be towed by a light truck must be included as part of the RFP. Vessel statement of requirements: 1. 18-20ft shallow draft vessel (landing craft/skiff style) – with a Bimini style structure or equal 2. 100-150L fuel tank 3. Davit crane (manual winch) with the capacity of 2500lbs installed on vessel 4. Outboard motor adequately sized for vessel installed (4 stroke) 5. Outboard kicker motor for redundancy installed (4 stroke) 6. Trailer with roller style bunk for transportation 7. VHF radio installed 8. Navigation system installed 9. Redundant battery system installed
