Your firm is hereby invited to submit a quotation for the provision of supply and delivery of fleet vehicles, the requirements of which are outlined in this Invitational Quotation.
Description: Supply and Delivery of Snowplow Truck

This invitational quotation does not commit Yellowhead County to award a contract or pay any costs incurred in the preparation of the quotation.
1. General Requirements:
• The snowplow truck must be suitable for use in the harsh winter conditions experienced in Yellowhead County, Alberta.
• 47X SB Tandem Plow Truck
• The vehicle should have a minimum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 29,937 kg to withstand heavy snow loads and rugged terrain.
• It must comply with all relevant safety standards and regulations.
2. Engine and Powertrain:
• Engine Type: Diesel engine preferred for cold weather performance.
• Minimum Horsepower: 505 Horsepower to provide sufficient power for snow plowing operations.
• Transmission: Automatic transmission with 6 gears for ease of operation.
3. Snow Plow Equipment:
• VCL 36-12-45C Front-mounted snowplow attachment with adjustable blade width of 12’, moldboard height of 36” fabricated from 10 ga steel and fitted with shoes and scuff shoes shall be
supplied at each end
• 500 LMW Low Mount front plow harness
• VCL125AHW Hydraulic, single push arm towerless wing harness, with the ability to perform hydraulic extend and / or retract the wing to increase or decrease the cleared path
• VCL Underbody Salt Saver UB1082 11’Spring tined underbody scraper c/w controls kit, w/air valve (up/down), main hoses, fittings and in cab control. Complete underbody salt saver, all
beams and posts are galvanized (spring tines will be painted)
• VCL144AHW wing moldboard c/w push-arms & push arm cylinders. Ultra-heavy duty panel construction for extreme conditions. Pre-punched cutting-edge holes for easy blade installation.
Moldboard curvature excels at casting snow farther from road. 11’ cutting edge and includes ratchet jack.
• Integrated snow removal system with adjustable height and angle controls for efficient snow clearing.
• Additional snow removal attachments or accessories as required for specific applications.
4. Salt Spreader:
• All season combination dump body and sand/salt spreader Proline – PL1415LW-II. The dump box shall remain stationary on the chassis frame while spreading.
• Rear discharge shall be front hoist tilt action as per conventional dump bodies.
• The unit should be oval shaped to permit gravity flow unloading.
• The main conveyor will be centered and recessed along the length of the box.
• The cross conveyor will be chassis frame mounted with spreader discharge on the front, left side (driver’s) of dump box.
• Adjustable spread pattern and rate control for precise application of de-icing materials.
5. Cab and Comfort Features:
• Cab must be spacious and comfortable for the operator during long shifts.
• Climate control system with heating and defrosting functions for cold weather comfort and air conditioning for warmer weather.
• Ergonomic seating with adjustable features to reduce operator fatigue.
• Visibility-enhancing features such as large windows and mirrors for safe operation in snowy conditions.
• Advanced safety features including quad locks, traction control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and stability control.
6. Lighting and Visibility:
• High-intensity headlights and auxiliary lighting for improved visibility in low-light conditions.
• Rear Alberta lighting TAC sign/light kit c/w stainless steel frame, upper red, AB light kit and checkerboard sign panel with blue lights.
• Amber strobe lights or beacon lights for increased visibility during snow plowing operations.
• Reflective striping or markings for enhanced visibility, especially in low-visibility conditions.
7. Maintenance and Durability:
• Easy access to engine components and service points for routine maintenance.
• Corrosion-resistant materials and undercoating to withstand exposure to salt and chemicals used in snow removal.
• Warranty and support services from the manufacturer or supplier for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
8. Optional Features:
• Rear-view camera or proximity sensors for improved safety and maneuverability.
• Bosch Rexroth CS-660/661 Spreader Control & CS-161 Joystick Armrest Controller package
• Snow wing attachments for widening plowing coverage.
• Automatic blade leveling system for consistent snow removal results.
9. Compliance and Documentation:
• The snowplow truck must meet all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Comprehensive documentation including user manuals, maintenance schedules, and warranty information must be provided.
10. Paint
• The dump body shall be shot blasted and epoxy primed.
• Finish paint Dupont Imron 5000
• Paint Manufacturer – Dupont Imron
• Paint Type – N2065EF Yellow
• Finish paint to be baked on
11. Delivery and Training:
Unit to be delivered c/w all attachments/options to the Yellowhead County Office at 2716 – 1st Avenue in Edson, Alberta
• Last factory date for order to be placed ___________
• Delivery timeframe: September 1, 2024
• Training and familiarization sessions for operators on the use and maintenance of the snowplow truck.
