The purpose of this Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is to invite qualified proponents (the “Proponents”) to submit proposals (the “Proposals”) for the structural life extensions
of the Chemainus, Thetis and Penelakut Island ferry terminals (the “Project”).
The general requirements of the Scope of Work includes:
Chemainus • Replacement and/or repair of:
a. Trestle timber piles and asphalt overlay
b. Ramp girders and coatings on steel surfaces
c. Fill underneath seaward abutment
d. Sacrificial anodes
Thetis Island • Replacement and/or repair of:
a. Trestle timber piles, bracing and pile caps
b. Ramp sleeper beams and coatings on steel surfaces
c. Sacrificial anodes
d. Jumper anchor chains and pontoon steel ballasts
Penelakut Island (Optional) • Replacement and/or repair of the floating lead:
o Anchor & jumper chains
o Sacrificial anodes
An optional site visit will take place on April 9, 2024. Proponent must inform the BC Ferries Terminal Construction representative Jameson Mtanga via email of their intent to
attend the site visit, three business days in advance of the scheduled date and time to secure attendance. Proponents are to state the name of the company they represent and the name(s) of
attendees. BC Ferries requests proponents to limit attendance to two personnel per proponent. Further information including specific location and parking to be provided via email once
attendance is secured. Personal protective equipment is required during the site visit; including steel toe boots, hi-vis vests and personal flotation device.
All enquiries must be submitted in writing to Melissa Boyd (the “Contact Person”) no later than seven calendar days before the Proposal submission deadline. Enquiries received after that
time may not be answered.
