Description

The County is seeking proposals from qualified proponents for the supply and installation of playground equipment and drainage upgrades to the adjacent trail.
The Wes Hosford Parent/Community Group has raised funds to expand the existing playground and amenities that currently include climbers and a slide, picnic tables, benches, and garbage receptacles. The +/-250m2 playground expansion is to include physical components such as swings, climbers, slides, monkey bars, and spinners. An additional +/-68m2 disk swing pod is also being added to the school park southeast of the existing playground and will be connected to each other using asphalt trail and accessibility ramps. Playground equipment is to be comprised of natural components where possible. The playground layout should be mindful of future accessibility upgrades around proposed swings. Some of the existing furniture will be reused to accommodate a seating area and existing picnic benches will be relocated to fit the disk swing.
To accommodate the playground expansion two existing trees and a light pole will need to be removed with the subdrainage of the expansion being tied into the catchbasin to the northeast. Drainage for the disk swing will daylight to the existing swale to the west.
A successful proponent will need to ensure that this work is completed within a two-month period prior to school commencing in late August.
