The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is undertaking a Request for Expressions of Interest process to seek submissions from providers to deliver a new consolidated rural locum assistance program to support rural and remote primary health and aged care services. The program will support health and aged care workforce in rural and remote locations, as well as enhancing the rural and remote health and aged care workforce capacity.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is undertaking a Request for Expressions process to seek submissions from providers to deliver a new consolidated rural locum assistance program to support rural and remote primary health and aged care services. The program will support health and aged care workforce in rural and remote locations, as well as enhancing the rural and remote health and aged care workforce capacity. The intended outcomes of the program are to:

· remove some of the barriers associated with working and training in rural, regional and remote Australia

· increase opportunities for health and aged care professionals to take leave to undertake professional development and training

· enhance rural and remote health and aged care workforce capacity by increasing the supply of appropriately qualified health and aged care professionals

· improve access to health and aged care professionals for people living in rural and remote communities.

Delivery of the program will include the following activities:

· Locum recruitment and placement

· Locum capacity building and orientation

· Program administration

· Program governance

· Program promotion

· Evaluation.

The Respondent must not have had any judicial decisions against it (excluding decisions under appeal) relating to employee entitlements and have not paid the claim.
