Background

Geoscience Australia is seeking to establish a First Nations Advisory Group to serve as a key consultative body to its Executive Board. The Advisory Group will be responsible for advising on First Nations matters relating to the organisation, and the delivery of its geoscience and geospatial programs.

The First Nations Advisory Group will also work with Geoscience Australia to enhance its understanding of First Nations perspectives in the collection and delivery of its data products, and information, contributing to informed decision-making and supporting effective and ethical governance.

Intent

The intent of the Advisory Group is to provide high level guidance and non-binding advice to Geoscience Australia on its approach to First Nations engagement including on its policies and program activities that are directly related to First Nations people, communities and organisation.

Other Instructions:

In your response, please address the matters identified in A.A.2 namely “How Much is Expected”, confirm your ability to commit to the number of meetings, travel obligations and address the “Important Criteria (i-v)”.

If you do not meet these requirements, then your response will not be considered.

Conditions for Participation:

Geoscience Australia will exclude from participation any interested party that does not demonstrate compliance with the following:

a. is a legal entity (ie sole trader, partnership, company or business). To apply to become a legal entity, please use Applying for an ABN | ABR (this is a free service) to be issued an ABN,

b. is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent,

c. identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander,

d. is accepted as such by their respective community, and

e. provides appropriate confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage

Timeframe for Delivery:

December 2025 to July 2027
