A capillary electrophoresis instrument is required; capable of measuring the purity of genetic reference materials produced in the Bioanalysis section laboratory. The Bioanalysis section located within the Chemical and Biological Metrology Branch (ChemBio) at the National Measurement Institute (NMI) provides certified genetic reference materials to several clients in the health, environment, and food sectors. Genetic reference materials often require an initial purification step by HPLC-UV fractionation followed by measuring the fragment size, amount, purity and integrity of DNA and RNA.
