The Department of Health and Aged Care is establishing a Chronic Wound Consumable Scheme for the supply and distribution of Wound Consumable Products to patient’s residential addresses or medical service organisation Australia wide, including rural and remote localities.
This Request for Expression of Interest (REI) process will determine the wound care consumable products to be listed on the CWCS Product Schedule.
The Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) was announced in the 2023-2024 Federal Budget to improve the management of wounds for patients in primary care settings by providing education and training for healthcare professionals and providing fully subsidised wound consumable products to eligible people with chronic wounds.
The CWCS will be open to people with both a chronic wound and diabetes who are aged 65 and over or aged 50 and over for First Nations people, and who do not have access to an alternative source of subsidised wound care products.

The CWCS distributor(s) to source and distribute the wound consumable products on the CWCS Product Schedule will be determined via a separate Request for Tender on AusTender.

Conditions for Participation:1. The Respondent must not have had any judicial decisions against it (excluding decisions under appeal) relating to employee entitlements and have not paid the claim.
2. The Respondent, its personnel, and any Subcontractors proposed in the Submission must not, at the Closing Time, be listed as terrorists under section 15 of the Charter of the United Nations Act 1945 (Cth).
3. The Respondent (and any Subcontractor proposed in its Submission) must not be named in the Consolidated list referred to in Regulation 40 the Charter of United Nations (Dealing with Assets) Regulations 2008 (Cth).
4. The wound consumable product(s) proposed by the Respondent has/have a current Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) certificate.
Timeframe for Delivery:Distribution of wound care products to commence from 1 May 2025
