The Department of Health and Aged Care is establishing a Chronic Wound Consumable Scheme for the supply and distribution of Wound Consumable Products to patient’s residential addresses or medical service organisation Australia wide, including rural and remote localities.

This Request for Expression of Interest (REI) process will determine the wound care consumable products to be listed on the CWCS Product Schedule.

The Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) was announced in the 2023-2024 Federal Budget to improve the management of wounds for patients in primary care settings by providing education and training for healthcare professionals and providing fully subsidised wound consumable products to eligible people with chronic wounds.

The CWCS will be open to people with both a chronic wound and diabetes who are aged 65 and over or aged 50 and over for First Nations people, and who do not have access to an alternative source of subsidised wound care products.

The Department requires the following services from a Respondent:

  • · Supply of wound consumable products at an agreed benchmarked price.
  • · Delivery of specified wound consumable products to the successful CWCS distributor(s). Delivery must be within a specified time frame and location.

In conducting this REI, the Department is seeking an outcome that will:

  • · identify potential products for listing on the CWCS Product Schedule under each product category.
  • · agree on a benchmarked price/s across product categories for individual products.
  • · identify potential suppliers capable of fulfilling the Department’s requirements to list products on the CWCS Product Schedule.

The CWCS distributor(s) to source and distribute the wound consumable products on the CWCS Product Schedule will be determined via a separate Request for Tender on AusTender.

Other Instructions:

Further information on the Chronic Wound Consumable Scheme can be found here.

Conditions for Participation:

1. The Respondent must not have had any judicial decisions against it (excluding decisions under appeal) relating to employee entitlements and have not paid the claim.
