This notice is for a planned upcoming procurement.

DFAT intends delivering a new fit-for-purpose building and infrastructure in Honiara, Solomon Islands to accommodate the Australian High Commission (AHC) and other Australian Government agencies. DFAT have acquired land in Honiara to construct a multistorey building for the AHC.

The intention is that the new building would be constructed using a prefabricated modular approach to overcome risks associated with delivering large construction projects in foreign and remote locations. It is envisaged the solution will be mixture of traditional and prefabricated methodologies due to the size and complexity of the proposed building.

Interested tenderers are advised that the procurement strategy for the project involves the engagement of a Design and Construct Head Works Contractor to deliver the Works, via a two-stage process including Expression of Interest (EOI) and Request for Tender (RFT).

The release of this approach to market is subject to Departmental, Government and Parliamentary Approvals. Tenderers will be asked to demonstrate their capacity to deliver large scale prefabricated construction projects in remote and difficult locations as part of the planned two stage process. Further project and procurement detail will be provided in an EOI which is expected to be released to the open market in early 2023.

Information about this planned procurement is provided for planning purposes only and it does not represent a solicitation or constitute a request for tender, nor is it a commitment by the Department to purchase the described services. This AusTender notification has been issued to provide advance notice of an upcoming approach to market (ATM), which is proposed to be conducted via an open approach to market scheduled for release by the Commonwealth of Australia as represented by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Department) in early 2023. Procurement request documentation will be made available on AusTender.
