1. Background and purpose

The construction sector in Thailand is one of the countrys largest employers of migrant workers, particularly from neighbouring Myanmar, Cambodia and the Lao Peoples Democratic Republic. Despite their central role in sustaining Thailands economic growth and infrastructure development, women migrant workers in construction remain largely invisible in data and policy discussions. Existing statistics on the sector rarely provide gender-disaggregated informationincluding on employment relationships (direct employment or subcontracting), wage levels, job tasks, working hours, and living conditions.
