UNICEF has now issued a Request for Proposals in order to select a supplier for the provision of Extension & rehabilitation of piped water network in hotspot areas in Amran &
Khamer cities, including provision of related equipment, Amran governorate . Amran governorate considered from the regions where water is scarce due to large population density and the
difficulty of obtaining water due to the lack of water sources, especially in Amran & Khamer cities, one of the results of this is high prices of drinking water gotten by private
individuals. As one of the major initiatives of UNICEF, is providing safe drinking water to areas, enabling beneficiaries to access safe drinking water at an appropriate cost and
sufficient quantity to cover their daily water needs and to alleviate the suffering of society, especially at the present time and the humanitarian, development and health crisis in
Yemen, thus the lack of sources of income. Also, to alleviate women and children suffering in transporting water from distant sources and preserve the future of children in continuing
their education, especially while they are in the current situation in which the water loss consumed huge amount of water that should be pumped to bene., as well as the spread of diseases
caused by lack of attention to personal hygiene due to lack of water, especially children. UNICEF seeks to support Amran Local Water & Sanitation Co. (LWSC) with Extension &
rehabilitation of piped water network in hotspot areas in Amran & Khamer cities, including provision of related equipment, in order to provide safe drinking water in this area. This
should assure a reliable source of water that requires minimum cost of operation and maintenance after the implementation and secure the water supply to affected beneficiaries. In fact,
due to the current intensive fighting, women and children constitute a large proportion of the IDP population in Yemen, especially those who live with their relatives in Amran &
Khamer cities and are particularly vulnerable when comes to access to safe water. With this process, UNICEF have assessed the situation and come up with an emergency prioritized
intervention of Extension & rehabilitation of piped water network in hotspot areas in Amran & Khamer cities, including provision of related equipment, Amran governorate.
Benefiting a total of 14,920 people (IDPs & HC). Such intervention is in line with UNICEF WASH AWP 2023, Output 3.2 “More children, adolescents and their families benefit from safe
water supply services and improved hygiene practices” and Output Indicator 3.2.3 “Number of people benefitting from the rehabilitation, extension or upgrade of water systems” The
objective is to provide access to safe water for a total of 14,920 people (IDPs & Host Community), through Extension & rehabilitation of piped water network in hotspot areas in
Amran & Khamer cities & provision of related equipment, Amran governorate, including (Site preparation, Civic works, pipes with their accessories works, Surveying works and Tools
with equipment). With this process, the public network will be expanded to reach new areas, thus its quantity and quality are to be secured for the targeted beneficiaries. Following the
site implementation period of 3 months site works. The main objectives are: 1. To providing safe drinking water to the beneficiaries to cover their water needs. 2. Ensure water quantity
per Capita per day to be at least 20 liters for the targeted beneficiaries and ensure its quality. Following the site implementation period of 3 months site works The scope of work
includes but not limited to Extension & rehabilitation of piped water network in hotspot areas in Amran & Khamer cities, and provision of related equipment, including (Site
preparation, Civic works, pipes and valves works, Surveying works and Suppling tools with equipment) and all needed accessories & fittings. The project site layout and drawings and
the technical specifications and BOQs are in Annex 2 & 8. Following the details of activities required per phase and list of deliverables: - Supply and installing of galvanized steel
pipes with their accessories and related valves. - Supply and installing of polyethylene pipes with their accessories and related valves. - Surveying & civic works for the implemented
network. - Supply of tools and equipment. - The Bidder’s activities and works must be carried out and completed strictly in full compliance with the drawings, specifications, general
and special conditions set out by the installation and contract agreement following the specifications and qualities mentioned in the BoQs attached in Annex 2 & 8. - The site works
includes all works, all needed accessories & fittings. - The bidder is to carry out all tests at lab & site level required to ensure the quality of the project as items thus as
