Thoolei has a cooperation agreement with the ministry in Myanmar for electricity and energy (MOEE), which covers the examination of the option for a network hydroelectric facility on the Bawgata river in the Bago region of Myanmar. In 2016 and 2017, Thoolei and NVE cooperated on a pre-feasibility study of the hydroelectric potential on the Bawgata river and on an assessment of the associated environmental and social conditions. The pre-feasibility study identified a potential feasible wooden dam cascade system on the river and the above mentioned partners have decided to focus on the lower hydroelectric project, which has been assessed to have a nominal generation capacity of 54 MW.
