      4. Description of the procurement:
         

         The maximum number of vehicles to be procured, whether 4x4 or 6x6 configurations will be four. Additionally, one Light Rescue Pump Fire Fighting Rescue Vehicle is also required, making the total requirement as being for FIVE vehicles.

         The vehicles will be capable of; the rapid delivery of fire fighting media in response to an aircraft accident or incident, to allow fire-fighting actions to begin with a minimum loss of time and the optimum safety of the operatives.

         The appliance will have a low centre of gravity and excellent stability, with a high tilt angle to ensure that when fully laden, the vehicle is capable of traversing paved and off road terrain in response to the needs and location of the incident. Vehicle safety and stability when travelling with its tanks not at full capacity, is a requirement which will need to be assured by the tenderer. The vehicle will be based and required to operate in a location close to the sea so protection against an environment inherent with high humidity and a high salt content will need to be considered.
