7.Contract descriptionThe aim of this contract is to strengthen the conformity assessment in the public and private sector in the Dominican Republic.The strategy consists of developing the conformity assessment capacities accredited by the standard ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratories, by the standard ISO/IEC 17020 for inspection, and for system and product certification by standards ISO/IEC 17021 and ISO/IEC 17065, respectively.

10.Additional informationThe programme to enhance quality for the development of MSMEs supports the implementation of quality policies and the promotion of MSMEs from the Dominican Republic, as well as the increase of productive quality of the MSMEs to improve their competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets, mainly in the EU and the Caribbean markets, to the integration of which aims the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement.3 deliverables are expected:(1) Strengthen the Dominican Quality System (Sistema Dominicano para la Calidad – SIDOCAL);(2) Improve the quality of the production, management and marketing processes of MSMEs; and(3) Strengthen the 2 selected value chains (processed fruit and beauty and hygiene products).

11.Legal base [1]Regulation (EU) No 236/2014 of the Parliament and of the Council of 11.3.2014 laying down common rules and procedures for the implementation of the Union"s instruments for financing external action and Annex IV to the Partnership Agreement between the members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States of the one part, and the European Community and its Member States, of the other part, signed in Cotonou on 23.6.2000 as amended in Luxembourg on 25.6.2005 and in Ouagadougou on 22.6.2010.Reference is made to Annex IV as revised by Decision No 1/2014 of the ACP-EU Council of Ministers of 20.6.2014.[1] Please indicate any particular feature that may have an impact on the participation rules (for instance, geographical or thematic, long term or short term).
